Cadet Leader Drill Course [22-23 November 2010]

The 2-day Cadet Leader Drill Course at Home Team Academy had taught us many drills which we are required to teach our unit. The course is conducted so as to standardize all timings throughout all NPCC units. During the 2-day course, we had gone through parade lectures and learnt many drills such as foot drills, rifle drills, baton drills and flag drills. We have also picked up skills like the usage of MOI( Method of Instruction), which could help us in teaching new drills to our juniors. Though the trainings were tough and it was hard enduring the long hours of the course, it has trained our mental resilience. It has also taught us how to present ourselves as leaders infront of our juniors in future. Through the course, we have learnt to be patient with our juniors so that we would impart the best of skills to them and bring the best out of them.

Secondary One Camp [22-23 October 2010]

It was a tough challenge organising this camp for the Secondary One cadets. As a leader in-charge of the games, things does not go as smoothly as it was planned. Thus, it was important being flexible in doing things and co-operating well with the 2 camp co-ordinators. Overall, we did our best to make this camp a success.

National Day Parade [6 August 2010]

During the tough NDP training, I have learnt to endure and persevere. Through this, I am able to improve on my drills. The result of the hard work has been paid off with a successful parade. I felt that the whole Guard of Honour contingent had done their best. Through this event, we displayed teamwork.

Singapore Youth Festival Opening Ceremony [3 July 2010]

To me, this parade was successful. It was everyone's hard work in brushing up on their drills, trying to co-operate with the CIs and fellow contingent mates that made this parade a success. It was a really difficult task to complete as everyone was from different units and every unit operates differently. However after much training, new friendships were forged and it didn't stop there. These friendships were really strong as everyone been through thick and thin together as a contingent under the strict guidance of the Cls. However, despite the hard trainings be it under the sun or in the shade, it was a veryenriching experience for me. The CIs were always there to guide me so as to improve my drills, be it foot drills or rifle drills. I really enjoyed this opportunity that was given to me.

Adventure Training Camp [21-23 May 2010]

The camp was indeed tough and tiring. It tested us, it seemed as an obstacle to many of us even before we were there. The camp led us out of our comfort zones that were often taken for granted. Through this camp, I reflected and learnt much. Firstly, the camp was held at Pulau Ubin, an island off Singapore. The conditions at the campsite were not at all fantastic, but we knew that this was a training camp; hence there was nothing much we could do about it. At the camp, we did many push-ups. Yes, it indeed strengthened our muscles and it boost our resilience level too. At many times, we wanted to give up because we were overwhelmed with fatigue. However, we had to persevere on. Through this camp, a thought came into my mind: We cant't change the situation that we're in because many times, we just simply cannot control the things that are happening around us. Despite the fact, we can change our attitude towards the situation. By changing our attitudes towards it, things suprisingly change. The feeling that is inside you does change as well. Many times, we are afraid that we may fail. But what I've realised was, the greatest enemy of all times, is never the obstacles, never the tough situations nor the untrusting people around us, but it is ourselves. It has all along been us. Therefore, to overcome greater heights, we must first overcome and outrun ourselves.

Campcraft Competition [27 February 2010]

Campcraft Competition 2010 had been a great experience for me, as it is the first time taking part in such a competition. Within a limited time, we were expected to pitch a 6 men tent, flagstaff and a gadget and great standard was expected of us. The physical trainings were really tedious to me. But the bonding session was really fun with all the motivation from the Officers as well as the CIs.
